Free QPR Suicide Prevention Training Session in Wautoma
The Waushara County American Legion, in collaboration with REACH Waushara, is offering a free QPR (Question. Persuade. Refer) training session on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (1300-1500) at the Wautoma Freemasons Lodge, located at 203 S. Scott St., Wautoma.
QPR is a life-saving intervention technique designed to equip participants with the skills to identify and assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Often compared to CPR for medical emergencies, QPR empowers community members to Question someone in distress, Persuade them to seek help, and Refer them to appropriate resources.
Why Attend?
This training is open to the public and is particularly beneficial for service organizations, veterans, church groups, educators, and anyone looking to make a positive impact in their communities. The need is urgent:
- Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in the U.S. for youth aged 10-14 and young adults aged 25-34 (National Institute for Mental Health & CDC).
- Among veterans under 45, suicide is the leading cause of death.
By participating, attendees will gain critical tools to address this pressing issue and help save lives.
